Rubén Gallardo, interviewed by Cent per Cent about his career as a film score composer

Mallorcan composer Rubén Gallardo has been interviewed by Cent per Cent, where he discussed his career in the film industry, his passion for music, and the recognition he recently received at the international Films in Fest festival in New York, where he was awarded Best Composer.


In the interview, Gallardo explains how his love for music began at an early age and how, over time, he steered his career toward film score composition. For the past ten years, he has worked on over 30 projects, including short films, feature films, and documentaries, collaborating with both national and international productions.


In the interview, the composer highlights the crucial role of technology in his profession, as it allows him to work from his studio in Mallorca with directors from all over the world. He also discusses his creative process, the challenge of adapting to different cinematic genres, and the importance of finding the right music for each story.



Additionally, he names Hans Zimmer as one of his biggest influences and explains how his work goes beyond composition, sometimes involving recording and sound mixing.


Gallardo also reflects on the evolution of cinema and the significance of theaters in providing a complete audiovisual experience. Furthermore, he shares his views on the impact of digital platforms on film distribution and the visibility of independent cinema.

Currently, the composer is working on several international projects, including a short film and two feature films.
