New York, October 28, 2024 – Spanish composer Rubén Gallardo Acedo stands out in the fifth edition of the International Films Infest Festival in New York (NYCIFIF), having been selected in the official competition with the music for four productions of different genres.
His soundtracks reflect a versatility and depth that have captured the attention of both the jury and the audience, solidifying him as one of the most outstanding composers of this year’s festival.
The selected projects include:
Amy (Ismael Luna, psychological thriller): The story of a man and his car, a Nissan 300zx named "Amy," whose relationship takes a dark turn when Amy's jealousy threatens to unleash a true nightmare on the road.
Key Lime Pie (Allen Delgado, dramatic comedy): Sergio, a Hispanic worker at a New Jersey diner, is wrongfully accused of stealing a watch. In his frantic search, he navigates a series of interactions that test his dignity and perseverance.
Mirror Stacy (Arabella Sharkey, fantasy drama): A woman on the brink of suicide encounters her younger self, who helps her rediscover the girl she once was and confront her current pain.
A Mother’s Love (Tianna Benton, psychological drama): A couple of new mothers experiences doubts and fears on their first car ride home with their newly adopted daughter, questioning whether they are ready for the challenge.
Each of Gallardo Acedo's compositions brings a unique sensitivity that captures the essence of these stories on screen. In Amy, the composer weaves an immersive atmosphere that intensifies the suspense and terror, while also evoking the aesthetics of the 1980s. Mirror Stacy adds a special dimension to this contemporary story, offering an introspective atmosphere that addresses the delicate theme of suicide. In A Mother’s Love, Gallardo explores themes of love and sacrifice with a moving and sophisticated score. Finally, in Key Lime Pie, his music combines comedic and subtle elements, presenting a variety of emotional musical phrases that enrich its resolution.
The awards ceremony, set to take place tomorrow in the "Big Apple," generates great anticipation about which projects will take home the awards, as all of Gallardo's works are among the nominees.
Best of luck!
